Migrating to Northsky

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. If applicable: Disable 2FA on your Bluesky Account
2. On https://migrate.northsky.social/
   • Enter your Invite Code
   • Read and Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy​
   • Choose Migrate Existing Account
   • Optional: Backup Your Data
   • Enter your current Bluesky Username and Password
   • Choose your new .northsky.social handle, or continue using your custom domain handle.
   • Create a new password for your Northsky account.
   • Wait for your Repo (posts) and Blobs (media) to clone from Bluesky's servers to Northsky's servers.
   • Do not use Bluesky while the transfer is taking place.
   • This process will take longer the larger your account is!
   • ⚠️Highly Recommended⚠️ Create a Rotation Key
   • Save your Rotation Key in a Secure + Backed Up Location (like a password manager)
   • Finalize the migration from Bluesky to Northsky with a PLC Key delivered to your E-mail. Input that key and continue.
   • Congratulations! You've migrated to Northsky's PDS!
3. In the Bluesky App:
   • Log out of your Bluesky account (it will display a deactivated warning when you return to it, you can ignore this and log out.)
   • Log in, but this time select the custom server https://northsky.social and use your new username and password you set for Northsky.
   • Enable 2FA in Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Email 2FA
   • ​Subscribe to our Moderation Labeler and configure it.
4. You're ready to resume posting bangers, now on Northsky!
